More than 40 arrests have been made following fan disorder at the Rangers v Celtic Scottish Cup quarter final at Ibrox.
Police chief Emma Croft told the Safe Glasgow partnership that officers are continuing with inquiries after the game on March 8.
There was a pitch invasion at the end of the cup tie, which Celtic had won 4-2 on penalties.
A report to the partnership, which scrutinises police activity in the city, stated: “The post event pitch incursion resulted in significant disorder and included assaults on police officers.
“A major investigation is ongoing and to date 26 arrests have been made for acts of violence and disorder. A number of other arrests are anticipated as the enquiry progresses with images of a further 35 people released to the media with enquiries ongoing to identify them.”
But Chief Superintendent Croft, divisional commander for Greater Glasgow, added: “We are up to 40 plus arrests for that one day alone.
“My football inquiry team continues at gusto in terms of the number of arrests and inquiries that continue with that and the title celebrations.”
Earlier this month, Police Scotland announced officers investigating the disorder had made six further arrests, which took the total number of arrests to 37 at that time.
The six men, aged 59, 45, 43, 40, 23 and 18, were arrested and charged in connection with various offences including assault, culpable and reckless conduct and breach of the peace.
Police Scotland said officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who believes they recognise the people in CCTV images to contact the force.
