Plans for 43 new apartments in Glasgow’s southside are being recommended for approval by officials.
The seven storey building proposals for one, two and three bedroom homes in the Cathcart and Newlands area have sparked 23 objections.
The flats would be constructed on a former car park on a corner plot at Newlands Road and Tankerland Road.
Thirty five resident car parking spaces and a cycle store form part of the plans from Newlands Lifestyle Living Ltd.
A council report said: “The apartments are predominantly dual-aspect and are arranged around internal communal circulation cores designed to maximise daylight, outlook and residential amenity. Where possible, apartments incorporate dedicated home-office space. The development includes a combination of private balconies and terraces, along with shared external amenity space for residents.”
Objectors have raised concerns about the planning application regarding “excessive height,” the impact on privacy and daylight as well as the loss of mature trees and road safety concerns among other issues.
There were two supporting comments pointing out benefits including new housing being provided as well as three neutral or conditional statements.
Councillors will make a decision on the bid at next week’s planning applications committee.
Officials are recommending the application is approved subject to conditions pointing out that the proposed plan complies with development plan policies.
