A Dennistoun hostel wants to double the number of rooms by building an extension.
The owners of Tartan Lodge on Alexandra Parade have asked Glasgow City Council for permission to provide 16 new rooms.
Galsey Enterprises would build a multi-storey extension to the existing hostel if it gets the go-ahead from council planners.
Plans submitted on behalf of the firm state the proposal “represents a logical and sustainable development on an existing urban site”.
They add: “The proposal has been designed to minimise adverse impact on neighbouring properties and the surrounding area.
“The extension is located within land controlled by the applicant and has been arranged to reduce unnecessary overlooking, obstruction or conflict with adjoining land.”
While the number of rooms would be increased from 16 to 32, the extension would rely on the “existing communal infrastructure”, which the applicants say will avoid “unnecessary duplication” and help to “keep the new footprint efficient and proportionate”.
“The proposal represents a proportionate extension of an established hostel use,” the plans add.
“The scale of development is considered appropriate to the site context and supports the continued operation and improvement of the existing accommodation use.”
