Disclosure Scotland has today set out the latest performance figures for its Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) checks, revealing that processing times remain fast and ‘well within target’.
They highlighted that the specific processing times referred in the recent report, which covered the period from 1 April to 31 December, are ‘significantly out of date and do not reflect current performance’.
Between 1 April and 30 June 2026, Disclosure Scotland completed 152,622 applications, with an average processing time of 3.5 days. During this period, 99.5% of applications were completed within 14 days.
The figures also show that 99.4% of applications were submitted online during the same period, reflecting the continued shift towards digital services as a fast and efficient way to use the PVG scheme.
Of the disclosures completed in quarter one that were eligible for sharing with an accredited body, 92.2% were shared within 14 days.
Disclosure Scotland has confirmed that a small number of applications may take longer than 14 days to process. This only occurs where additional information is required or external checks are required as part of its safeguarding and vetting procedures, which help to ensure the protection of vulnerable groups in Scotland.
Disclosure Scotland publishes application volumes and average processing times for each month, which can be viewed here.
