A total of 7,800 people received help towards getting a job as part of a scheme last year, which supports residents with disabilities and other challenges.
The Glasgow Futures scheme fully supports people with complex challenges while also meeting employers’ needs to fill vacancies.
The programme is aimed at priority groups including those with disabilities, ethnic minority groups, parents and young people – helping them move closer to the employment market.
The Glasgow Futures Employer Engagement Challenge delivers the employability services, which targets “those furthest from the labour market or experiencing in-work poverty” according to a council paper.
Grant funding worth about £5 million was handed out by the council to an organisation to deliver services as part of the scheme yesterday.
Councillors sitting on the city administration committee awarded the funding to Enable (Leading the Way) – All in Glasgow – Collaborative Pathways to Employment following a bidding process.
Speaking at the committee, councillor Catherine Vallis, Labour, asked what number of people does the programme support.
In response, a council official said: “Last year we supported 7,800 individuals in the city to move towards work and sustained work potentially in achieving outcomes.
“We will be looking at similar targets overall this year. This contract is about working with all the individuals we are already supporting but ensuring that menu of support that helps them move into and sustain work is available.”
He added: “We do have metrics overall and targets for Glasgow Futures that we track and monitor performance against.”
Explaining more about the organisations receiving funding, a council paper said: “The All in Glasgow -Collaborative Pathways to Employment Partnership consists of 14 delivery partners, including Enable, and nine specialist providers.”
The funding will cover the period from October 1, 2026 to March 31, 2029.
