Concerns over “pretty low” satisfaction rates of Glasgow City Council services have been raised by a local councillor.
During the recent environment and liveable neighbourhoods, councillor Stephen Docherty highlighted how some of the satisfaction levels from the 2025 Glasgow Household Survey sat at 40% for street cleaning, 39% and 15% for pavement and road maintenance respectively.
Street lighting had a higher satisfaction level of 74%, recycling collection 55% and refuse uplifts were 54%.
The council seeks to ensure that the services we provide are of high quality and meet the needs of all the city’s residents.
Councillor Stephen Docherty said: “Glasgow Households’ survey results continue to show relatively low satisfaction levels for some of the key service areas, particularly road maintenance and street cleaning.
“What improvement targets have been set. I would think that you have milestones given how bad some of the statistics are – that’s where I am coming from with this as some if it is pretty low.”
A council officer advised that they are always trying to improve services and take into account the feedback from residents.
They said: “The Glasgow Housing Survey is an area which NRS scrutinises in relation to the feedback received and all areas follow up in relation to any actions that could be taken to improve the service that is provided.
“It is certainly something that we continually try to improve on the services and take into account the feedback we receive from the survey.
“These are the areas that we do want to improve and look at other cities as well. It is taking account of the Glasgow street deprivation levels and how that impacts on the city in comparison to other cities.”
