James Bradwell, who plays Lord Basilio in Bridgerton, will star alongside Glaswegian actor Daniel Casey in the world premiere of Guy Unsworth’s stage adaptation of Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift.
Daniel Casey is set to play Inspector Tom Barnaby with James Bradwell playing Sergeant Gavin Troy at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 of February.
Playing for three nights only, the residents of Midsomer will be played by a multi-rolling ensemble of actors: Nathalie Barclay, Chandrika Chevli, Julie Legrand, Rupert Sadler, Chris Agha and Rhîan Crowley-McLean and Glaswegian actor John Dougall as Doctor Trever Lessiter and Henry Trace.
When well-loved spinster Emily Simpson is found dead in the picturesque village of Badger’s Drift, her friend Lucy Bellringer refuses to accept it was an accident. DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy are called in to investigate, uncovering a world of hidden passions, long-buried secrets and deadly rivalries.
With eccentric villagers, shocking twists and a major reveal, the performance is said to be a classic that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats whilst bringing to life the wit, charm and chilling suspense of the beloved TV show and original book series.
James Bradwell’s theatre credits include The Beautiful Future Is Coming (Traverse, Bristol Old Vic), The Garden of Words (Park Theatre), Not Yet Midnight (Royal Court), Corrina, Corrina (Headlong, Liverpool Everyman), My Night with Reg (Turbine Theatre), Romeo & Juliet, Richard III (Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre) and Read Not Dead (Shakespeare’s Globe).
Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift will be directed by Guy Unsworth, with design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Matt Haskins, sound design by Ella Wahlström, music by Max Pappenheim and casting by Ginny Schiller CDG.
