Eight out of 11 subject areas from the University of Glasgow in world top 100 in the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
Two subjects, Psychology (41st) and Medical & Health (48th), rank in the world top 50. Overall, nine subject areas improved from the 2025 results.
Below are some subjects at UofG alongside their 2026 rank:
– Arts and Humanities, ranked 60
– Business and Economics, ranked 76
– Computer Science, ranked 126-150
– Education Studies, ranked 77
– Engineering, ranked 151-175
– Law, ranked 63
– Life Sciences, ranked 71
– Medical Health, ranked 48
– Physical Sciences, ranked 126-150
– Psychology, ranked 41
– Social Sciences, ranked 75
The THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026 assess universities across 11 subject groups, using the same 18 performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings 2026.
These indicators are organised under five pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook.
Professor Andy Schofield, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, said:
