Inverclyde Council has confirmed today that an independent investigation into concerns raised by a former MSYP about the conduct of several employees has now concluded.
The investigation was carried out by an external and independent investigator, supported by a leading law firm to ensure full impartiality and adherence to recognised standards of fairness.
The final report found that none of the allegations were upheld. The investigation also identified three recommendations aimed at strengthening internal processes. These recommendations have been accepted in full and will be actioned accordingly.
Stuart Jamieson, Chief Executive said, “We take any concerns raised about staff conduct extremely seriously. That is why we commissioned an independent investigation to ensure a thorough and transparent process. We acknowledge the conclusion that no allegations were substantiated.
“We also want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the welfare, safety and positive experience of young people who participate in the democratic life of our Council. Supporting young people to engage confidently and safely in civic and democratic processes is a responsibility we hold with utmost care.
“We recognise that such processes can be difficult for everyone involved, and we are grateful to the young people, staff and partners who cooperated fully and professionally throughout this process.”
Inverclyde Council has explained that they are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of conduct, accountability, and public service. The Council will continue to uphold its duty of care to all young people who engage with its services, ensuring they are supported, respected, and empowered to shape local decision making.
