ScotRail has confirmed it will provide more services and more seats on trains for football fans travelling to the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup final this weekend.

Newly crowned Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic will be going for a league and cup double on Saturday, 23 May, as they take on Dunfermline Athletic at Barclays Hampden, with kick-off at 15.00.

To support travel, ScotRail will operate additional trains, and extra carriages will be added to services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida, before and after the match.

All supporters travelling by rail are encouraged to use services to and from Mount Florida. Fans are also encouraged to travel to Hampden early to soak up the match day experience.

ScotRail is advising customers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey, while the Gordon Street and Union Street entrances to Glasgow Central remain unavailable.

Customers travelling to the football or via Mount Florida, should enter the station from the Carriage Drive off Hope Street, where a queuing system will be in place to help customers board trains safely and efficiently.

All other customers should enter the station via the low-level entrance on Argyle Street or high-level entrance on Hope Street. ScotRail will have extra staff to direct customers.

After the final whistle, customers should make their way back to Mount Florida station and join the queue on Bolton Drive, accessed via Cathkinview Terrace.

To reduce the need to queue, customers are encouraged to buy their return tickets to Mount Florida in advance as mTickets on the ScotRail app.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said:

“ScotRail is looking forward to helping football fans travel to and from the Men’s Scottish Cup Final at Hampden this weekend.

“We’ll be doing all we can make the event as hassle-free as possible, which includes more seats and services to help supporters get to and from the stadium.

“We’d encourage everyone to plan ahead, check their journey, and follow advice from our staff to help keep things moving.

“Queuing systems will be in place before and after the match, so please make sure you know where to go. Our staff will be on hand throughout the day to help.

“Buying your return tickets to Mount Florida in advance as mTickets on the ScotRail app will help your journey run smoothly.”
