Taylor High School in Motherwell has been awarded a prestigious gold award by sportscotland – the national agency for sport.
The award recognises the school’s outstanding commitment to providing sporting opportunities for its pupils.
The school offers a range of sporting activities available to students beyond the physical education curriculum and the recognition reflects Taylor’s dedication to creating an inclusive and active sporting culture for all young people.
Paul McWatt, Head Teacher of Taylor High School, said: “I’d like to thank all staff and pupils for their support and commitment to providing outstanding sporting opportunities for our young people.
“Special thanks to Lauren Gilbert our Active Schools Co Ordinator, our health and wellbeing faculty and staff across the school for their continued support in delivering sporting opportunities throughout the year.
“I’d also like to thank our S6 sports coaches, whose leadership and commitment to lunchtime and after-school clubs have been instrumental in expanding participation and supporting younger pupils to become more active.”
The sportscotland awards programme celebrates schools that demonstrate strong leadership, planning and community engagement in school sport, and the gold level represents the high standard within the programme.
