New flats are set to be built in the east end in place of formerly demolished homes on a site with views towards the People’s Palace.
The 15 new properties are to be constructed on empty brownfield land at 290 London Road to the north of Glasgow Green if plans win council approval.
The site in the Calton area was previously home to a tenement, which was knocked down in the 1980s. Flats were then constructed on the land but were also demolished between 2005 to 2008 – leaving the plot empty since.
Applicant Property DAH Glasgow Ltd has applied for planning permission to build one and two bedroom homes.
A design statement lodged with the council said: “The proposals are to reinstate a residential flatted block within the footprint of the previous block on the site that was demolished in this century.”
It added: “The proposed flat type plans have been developed to provide efficient; affordable one and two bedroom dwellings suitable for young professionals, families and elderly people.”
It said the flat types aim to provide “high levels of general storage” and “adaptability and flexible space to suit amenity users” among other features.
Glasgow City Council is to consider the planning application.
