Proposals to develop a self service laundry kiosk and watch repair within the Tesco grounds at Silverburn have been submitted to the city council.
A planning application, proposed by Johnson Laundry Kiosk and The Watch Lab Kiosk on 751 Barrhead Road, can now be viewed on Glasgow City Council’s planning portal.
The unit is part of a joint venture by Timpson Ltd and Tesco Stores Ltd to offer these services within the Tesco grounds and is part of a current business plan.
There are already kiosks in similar locations across the UK.
Consent is now being asked for the installation of the self service laundry kiosk and watch repair kiosk which, if approved, will be situated on the pavement under the canopy at the front of the store.
If given the green light, the self service laundry kiosk will be available for the public to use 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday.
Meanwhile the proposed opening hours of the watch repair kiosk would be between Monday and Saturday from 9am until 6pm and Sunday 10am until 4pm.
A planning statement reads: “We believe that the site has adequate capacity for this proposal, even at the busiest time of the year. We do not believe the proposed kiosks will affect the egress/ingress routes of the store or car park and we do not think there will be any impact on local transport.
“The proposed location has been selected after consideration was given to the provision that it would minimise any impact on the customers wishing to use the main store and is conveniently situated for its power and water requirements.”
