Residents have the chance to say thank you to council staff as nominations open for the Pride of Inverclyde Awards 2026.
The awards recognise the public service employees and teams who go above and beyond to improve the lives of people living in Inverclyde.
There are six award categories in total with four open to members of the public who can nominate an individual or team they feel deserve special recognition. They are:
Team of the Year: Nominations in this category will acknowledge and recognise a team that has demonstrated excellence in quality, innovation, productivity or collaborative working and has delivered a clear benefit to the council.
Employee of the Year: This award recognises employees who have gone the extra mile in delivering exceptional service.
Excellence in Service Delivery: This category recognises a team or individual who consistently delivers in an efficient, reliable manner, supporting others in an exemplary way.
Excellence in Innovation: In this category we are looking for individual employees or a team who have submitted an idea or suggestion that has gone on to be implemented, resulting in improved service and performance for our customers or employees.
The awards are open to staff working across all council services, including those delivered by the health and social care partnership (HSCP).
Chief executive of Inverclyde Council, Stuart Jamieson, said: “I am proud of our workforce and these awards give us the chance to shine a light on the hard work that goes on here every day.
“Our staff – most of whom live in Inverclyde as well – work hard to make Inverclyde a great place to live, work, visit and do business.
“We may be a small local authority in comparison to others in Scotland but we punch above our weight and that’s due in no small part to the people who work here.
“I am looking forward to the awards ceremony and seeing who has made a difference this year.”
Two awards are chosen by the chief executive and Provost while long service awards will be given to members of staff with 40 years’ service to the council.
The Chief Executive’s Award recognises an individual or team who have identified or delivered more efficient services for Inverclyde Council.
The Provost’s Award is to recognise an individual or team who he personally feels has made a noticeable improvement in delivering public services on behalf of Inverclyde Council.
Councillor Stephen McCabe, leader of Inverclyde Council, said: “Once again this is our chance to say thank you and well done to our staff.
“I know they all work incredibly hard whether it’s in the classroom, looking after our parks and green spaces, caring for the elderly, organising public events, collecting refuse bins or all the other hundreds of tasks things that go on day in, day out at the council and HSCP to make sure it runs smoothly.
“We all know councils are facing increasing pressures and our biggest asset is our staff.
“I would urge anyone who wants to say a thank you to take five minutes to get your form in.”
