A new plan could see Glasgow city centre offices, above a nightclub, converted into a 30-bed apart-hotel.
Glasgow City Council has received a bid to use a B-listed building at 160 to 164 Bath Street as visitor accommodation.
It comes after a previous plan to return the property to residential use was submitted last year, but later withdrawn.
The application, from Marco Mann, states the new scheme would reactivate the building and support Glasgow’s tourism and visitor economy.
The offices sit above Manuka nightclub on Bath Street.
Originally constructed in 1840 as townhouses, a more modern extension was later added to the rear of the building, facing Sauchiehall Street lane.
Under the new plan, 30 apart-hotel suites would be developed. The earlier proposal had been to convert the building into 13 private apartments.
Planning documents state the area is “particularly busy at night, with a bar and nightclub “sitting in the basement below the site, separated by the ground floor”.
The applicant wants to provide “serviced accommodation for short to medium-term stays”, with a main entrance/check-in point at 160 Bath Street.
They intend to create self-contained rooms with kitchenettes and en-suite facilities.
Plans add there would be a “dedicated operator” to manage bookings and maintenance and a 24/7 contact system for guests and neighbours.
House rules would be issued to all guests, the application states, covering noise, anti-social behaviour and use of common areas. No parties or events would be permitted, it adds.
The application is currently being considered by council planners.
