ScotRail is ready to help thousands of music fans travel to see Metallica perform in Glasgow this week.
The iconic heavy metal band is taking their M72 World Tour to Barclays Hampden on Thursday, 25 June, with thousands of fans expected to travel to the southside of Glasgow for a night of heavy riffs and epic performances.
To help customers get to and from the gig, ScotRail is running more services and longer trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida – the closest station to the stadium.
Hampden is around a five-minute walk from Mount Florida station, and with gates open from 16.00, customers are encouraged to travel early and enjoy the pre-show build up.
Customers are being reminded that the Gordon Street and Union Street entrances to Glasgow Central remain unavailable.
Those travelling to the concert, or via Mount Florida, should enter Glasgow Central via the Carriage Drive entrance off Hope Street, where a queuing system will be in place to help customers board trains safely and efficiently.
Regular customers travelling should be aware that services through Mount Florida will be busier than usual as fans make their way to Hampden.
Customers are required to have their tickets for travel before boarding. Tickets are available in advance through the ScotRail app, website, ticket offices, and self-service ticket machines.
To help everyone get home as safely and smoothly as possible, fans are asked to head back to Mount Florida station promptly and join the queue on Florida Street, accessed via Cathkinview Road. All other roads leading to the station will be closed to concert traffic.
To help manage the flow of customers and reduce the need to queue, customers travelling home to stations via Neilston should consider travelling home from Cathcart station. Customers heading to stations via Newton should use Kings Park.
ScotRail will have extra staff on hand to support and help everyone’s journey go smoothly.

“Travelling by train is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get to the stadium, with Mount Florida station only a short walk away.
“To support travel, we’ll be adding more seats and extra services before and after the show.
“Customers can help make their journey run smoothly by planning ahead, allowing extra time for travel, and buying their return tickets before they board the train.
“We’re grateful for everyone’s patience while our staff help customers board safely.”
