A plan to build flats at Dorchester Avenue has been submitted to Glasgow City Council

A gap site in Glasgow’s west end could be used for homes under a new plan.
Glasgow City Council has received an application to build six properties on unused land between flats at Dorchester Avenue in Kelvindale.
The plot includes an electric substation, which would be relocated if the proposal gets the go ahead.
Plans from Glasgow Development & Construction Ltd state the “simple concept is to respond directly in terms of massing and scale to the three-storey form of the existing flatted blocks”.
There would be a central close, a common entrance, two three-bedroom maisonettes, with rear private gardens, aimed at families, and four apartments above. A communal garden space would also be created.
“The proposed material palette is selected to compliment and blend in with the existing buildings,” the application continues. “Currently, there is on-street parking, no additional designated off-street is proposed.”
Plans add the electrical substation is “now operating with obsolete equipment under a lapsed lease arrangement” and the rest of the site has been “vacant for many years”.
They continue: “The substation supplies power in below ground buried cables under the site to local houses in the area and some of the cable lines indicated are disused.”
It is proposed to relocate the substation to the front of the site, with a wayleave along the boundary to allow Scottish Power to retain access.
The access route would be secured by a lockable gate, providing “controlled access for maintenance personnel while maintaining an appropriate level of site security”.
