A home on Hardridge Road which was used as a short-term let without a licence

The owner of an unlicensed short-term let in Corkerhill has been slammed after police were called when partying guests spilled into the street.
Neighbours urged Glasgow City Council to reject Saima Khan’s licence bid for her property at Hardridge Road due to anti-social behaviour.
It is understood the short-term use had caused distress and anxiety in the area — and residents’ gardens were damaged during a party.
The licensing committee was told a “bunch of kids” had “illegally rented” the property and threw a party. Ms Khan said she was “deeply, deeply regretful”.
She claimed an agency had told her she could let the home while awaiting the outcome of her short-term let licence bid. Councillors refused the application at a meeting on Wednesday (April 15).
Cllr Alex Wilson, SNP, who chairs the committee, said: “Do you understand that any insurance you had on the property would have been invalid?
“Even if these people you say had a party, the party has overspilled etc, they could have wrecked your home, there could have been fire. You were not licensed, you were uninsured.”
There were 17 objections in total, including from Cllr Elaine McSporran, who represents the area, and Cllr Wilson said there was clearly a “lot of ill-feeling towards the property”.
He added Ms Khan had been “badly advised”. “You should never take the word of anyone else without finding out information yourself.”
Ms Khan, who had previously lived in the two-bed terraced house, said she had rented it to long-term tenants but had “trouble with them and there were a lot of repairs”.
She believed a short-term let would help her to “maintain the property a bit better” and claimed the agency had told her “until you’ve heard yes or no, you are allowed”.
Cllr Wilson said: “Not once have you taken ownership of this, it is your property. You are blaming other people. Not once have you said ‘I’m really sorry, I didn’t know the rules’.”
He added: “Don’t you understand how serious this is? You’re dealing with people’s lives, health and safety.”
Ms Khan replied: “I am so sorry about what happened, it was the last thing that I would want to disturb my neighbours. I am deeply, deeply regretful that happened.”
